All About Me
Hi, my name is Max. I live with my Mom and Dad, my niece, Maisie who is also a Golden Retriever and my kitty named Matilda.
I was born in New Castle, PA and had lots of brothers and sisters. One day my Mom and Dad came to my house to see me. I was outside playing in the shed and when I heard their car, I stood up to look out the window. They told me later that when the saw my little face looking out the window, they knew immediately that I was the pup for them.
The next thing I knew, we were going for a long car ride to my new forever home. I liked my new home. There was a nice big yard for me to run and play in and everyone was so nice to me. And there were lots of bunnies and squirrels for me to chase around. And if that wasn’t enough, they would take me to their camp in the woods where there were tons of new smells and things to explore.
When I was 1 ½, my Mom and Dad thought that I would make a great Therapy Dog. So, I went to school to learn cool things like place, sit, down, heel, over, tunnel and stay. My Dad and I had a lot of fun at school, and I made lots of new dog friends.
Finally came testing time to see if I could become a Therapy Dog. Before I could take my test to be a Therapy Dog, I had to pass my AKC Canine Good Citizen (AKC CGC) test. I passed the test, and everyone was so very proud of me. Now for the big test that took two days to show everyone that I could be a Therapy Dog. It was a tough test but at the end of those two days, they said I passed and was now a Certified Therapy Dog. On top of passing the test, I also earned my AKC Canine Good Citizen Community and AKC Canine Good Citizen Advanced awards without even knowing it.
Ever since then, I have had so much fun going to different places and meeting so many nice new people. At these places, people are so nice to me and it makes me feel good that I make them smile. Everyone wants to pet me or give me belly rubs and they really like it when I shake their hand or give them high fives. I love this job.
I think that I’m going to be a Therapy Dog forever since I love it so much.
Love, Max
